If you are, related to, or care about persons with disabilities, please take 5 minutes to call your Senator and urge them to vote AGAINST the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities when it comes to the Senate floor tomorrow (Wednesday the 27th).

This UN Convention would, among other things, set the stage for the government to take more control over individuals with disabilities and possibly even make life-changing/threatening decisions regarding their health and well-being.

For more information about the treaty, go here.

To find your Senator’s contact information, go here.

If you are unsure of what to say, here is a sample of what I said when I called my Senators (you’ll generally leave a message with the receptionist).

“My name is Brittany and I am calling to leave a message for Senator ___ about the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. As a Colorado resident and sister to a person with disabilities, I am strongly opposed to this Convention and urge the Senator to vote against it tomorrow. This subject is of such importance that I consider it a voting issue and will keep the Senator’s vote in mind come election time.”

This is super easy… it literally takes 5 minutes to call both Senators.  And it is super effective… for every one phone call a Senator receives, they will assume there are many more voters who believe the same way you do.

So please take 5 minutes today to stand up for the special people in your life!
