I think there is something cathartic about honesty. I avoided writing blog posts for several weeks, because I was too tired and overwhelmed with just living a special needs life to muster strength to write about it too.
But after writing the last post, I have found the interest to write again. Thankfully, even in the rough times, Alyssa continues to have some pretty hilarious moments.
Take her singing, for example. She loves to sing. Unfortunately (and sometimes rather hilariously), she can’t quite carry a tune.
Okay, so that’s an understatement. But I’ll leave it at that.
Even more amusing, however, is the words she puts to her off-key tunes. Oftentimes, she does not know or understand all the words. But that does not stop her… oh no! She has no trouble making up her own words to fit the occasion.
The other day, she was singing along to Disney’s I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan. Here are just a few of her adapted lyrics…
“You’re the saddest lot I NEVER knew.”
“With all the voyage of great Thai hair/And all the force of a horsey food.” [I think this may be my favorite].
“I’ll make a man out of MATTHEW.”
And during the song, this special conversation ensued…
Alyssa: “Let’s get down to business/to defeat the puns.”
Me: “No, it’s Huns.”
Alyssa: “Oh! HUNS!”
She certainly does add spice to life.
