The other evening at dinner, my mom started a rather serious (and quite good) conversation with the family. We were talked about our feelings, our frustrations, and how we could best help each other enjoy life, rather than feeling discouraged or dragged down. It was a wonderful conversation, really.

Then, right in the middle of someone’s sentence, Alyssa decided it was time to pipe up.

“SOCKS!”

We all stopped and looked at her. Now that she had our attention, I guess she felt free to continue.

“Socks and lettuce!”

At least, that’s what I heard. Needless to say, I was rather confused. But when I repeated it back to her, I realized I had misheard.

“NO, BRITTANY! Socks have LETTERS.”

Apparently, that was supposed to clear things up. I’ll be honest–I still don’t understand. But if the point was to get our attention, it definitely worked!
