I started crying when I read about a fashion show that is taking place the end of this month.  And no, it’s not because I’m inordinately attached to clothes or shoes.

This fashion show stars some of the most beautiful people in the world… children and adults with Down Syndrome.

I cried because these individuals who are so often shunned or ignored will be center stage.

I cried when I thought of how excited my own sister would be to dress up and star as the center of attention for an evening.

I cried as I thought of how incredibly proud their families would be to see the inward beauty they know is there come shining through for all the world to see.

I cried because so often, these beautiful people fall to the background in our society.  But this…

This is their time to shine.
